WHAT WE CARRY: Effigies for the Weight of Humanity
(Yes, It's a Lot, We Know)

What We Carry: Effigies for the Weight of Humanity is an interdisciplinary conceptual art project by Jacqueline Clemens that explores the psychological, political, and emotional systems shaping contemporary life. Through serialized written dispatches, symbolic effigies, visual storytelling, and emerging sculptural forms, the project examines themes of power, media, bureaucracy, identity, language, and collective survival.
Blending political satire with emotional commentary, What We Carry: Effigies for the Weight of Humanity invites audiences to reflect on the invisible structures people internalize and carry daily. The project unfolds as an evolving narrative world where symbolism, language, and material form intersect to question how authority, repetition, and institutional systems shape human perception and behavior.
