Tethered is a psychological drama feature that follows Jill, a young woman in Los Angeles rebuilding her life after a psychologically abusive relationship and a childhood of emotional neglect. When she begins EMDR therapy to process her trauma, she’s pulled into vivid, navigable memories — and as the boundary between past and present dissolves, the safety of her own memory space becomes harder and harder to leave.

Told entirely from Jill’s subjective point of view, the film dramatizes the lived experience of trauma recovery: the pull of the familiar, the difficulty of trusting your own perception after it’s been manipulated, and the quiet courage it takes to choose an uncertain present over a painful but knowable past. Tethered is about the difference between safety and control — and what it costs to choose something real.
