WISH AS ONE is a participatory public art and youth engagement initiative created in connection with the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Our goal is to engage one million young people from Los Angeles and communities across the United States in identifying, declaring, and sharing their personal wishes. Participants will articulate a meaningful wish, write it down, and create a wearable Wish bracelet as a tangible reminder of their intention. They will also be invited to write their wish on a ribbon for inclusion in a monumental public artwork and, for those who choose, share their wish aloud on video. Together, these individual expressions will form a collective portrait of a generation’s hopes, dreams, and aspirations.

Participation will be facilitated through in-person workshops, mailed participation packages, and an existing digital platform for collecting wishes. Self-guided packages, distributed through schools, after-school programs, youth organizations, community partners, and special events, will include bracelet-making materials, wish ribbons, return shipping materials, and access to instructional videos through our online portal. Digitally submitted wishes may also be transcribed onto ribbons by volunteers, ensuring broader participation in the physical artwork. The collected ribbons will be incorporated into large-scale sculptural installations in Los Angeles during the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, while personal video stories and digital storytelling will amplify young people’s voices beyond the installations, transforming individual wishes into a powerful shared expression of possibility.
