Hitler’s Eye
An archive of 20,000 images resides within the Berlin home of Hanns-Peter Frentz, hidden out of shame over his family’s role in their creation. Now revealed, they expose the inner workings of Hitler’s propaganda machine, uncovering the visual ideology that metastasized within his cloistered world.
Hitler’s Eye is a bold and visceral film by Academy Award nominee Dror Moreh, unboxing a hidden visual archive of Adolf Hitler’s private life. The project reveals over 20,000 never-before-seen photographs, film reels, and diaries captured by Hitler’s personal cameraman, Walter Frentz, who hid his Nazi ties to continue his life unscrutinized after the war. Now, his son Hanns-Peter has chosen to release this extraordinary archive. Unlike propaganda imagery, these intimate and unguarded moments expose the psychology of power, manipulation, and the allure of evil. As Hanns-Peter confronts his father’s legacy, the film becomes a journey through inherited guilt and historical reckoning.
