Evensong

A paraplegic woman convinces her genetic engineer husband to create an illegal clone of herself as a sex surrogate in a desperate attempt to heal their broken marriage.

EVENSONG propels audiences into a morally ambiguous near-future when Sidney, a paraplegic woman and former pianist, convinces her genetic engineer husband Richard to create an illegal clone of herself as a sex surrogate. Because scientists haven’t yet perfected consciousness transfer, the clone is born with the body of a woman and the mind of a newborn.

Our Sci-Fi Drama / Thriller grapples with ownership of the female body, the ethics of cloning, disability and mental health, and the healing power of music — all through the intimate lens of a broken marriage. It lives in the world of such prestige indie films as EX MACHINA, HER, and ROOM.

Ultimately, EVENSONG is a story about pain as a catalyst for transformation. As our characters
navigate suffering and intimacy, taboos and vulnerability, grief and longing, the film dares us to wonder: what would you do with your own clone?
