HERE COMES THE SUN is a raw, intimate drama about an immigrant couple isolated in their tiny NYC apartment during the brutal 2020 outbreak. Gabriel, a Mexican photographer, and Ilona, his Hungarian doctor wife, face emotional collapse and marital strain between her relentless 24-hour hospital shifts. Traumatized by daily death and helplessness on the frontlines, Ilona returns home exhausted and depressed. Gabriel, paralyzed by anxiety and unable to protect her, spirals into quiet despair. Frustration builds as physical connection becomes dangerous, and even comfort is off-limits. When Gabriel finally feels useful through his art, their emotional clash is inevitable. But a medical emergency involving a neighbor forces them to confront their fears, rediscover their bond, and choose each other again. Based on real events experienced by filmmaker Kris Kasparek and his medical doctor wife during the pandemic, the film reveals the quiet heroism that unfolds behind closed doors.
