Forever is a powerful new rock musical inspired by Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray. It follows Dorian, a 1960s singer who rises from Greenwich Village coffeehouses to worldwide stardom. Blessed—or cursed—with eternal youth after making a fateful wish, he abandons true love and sacrifices friendships to preserve his image. Set against the backdrop of the social upheaval of the civil rights movement and the Vietnam war, Forever also deals with interracial relationships, the pain of Vietnam veterans, and the too common pairing of celebrity and drug abuse.
