Women of Bears Ears

'We the Indigenous women from the Bears Ears region, and Allied Tribal Nations, have come from the earth, are matriarchs of the land. Through our work, we maintain an intimate connection to these sacred lands, the homelands of our ancestors, and continue to root each generation back into the landscapes. Your support will allow us to continue to gather, heal and build our efforts to protect our ancestral lands.

The Women of Bears Ears are Indigenous women who support their families and communities in the protection of ancestral lands. They come from Diné, Nuche, Pueblo and all allied Native Nations. In these southwestern lands, twin buttes rise known as Bears Ears. Their mission is to restore Indigenous women’s matrilineal roles as decision-makers, culture bearers, and nurturers of our shared ancestral lands, and of future generations. Their programming guides women through healing and connection, histories and oral stories, and Indigenous and matriarchal wisdom, while also grounding them in place in their Ancestral homelands.

In order to heal, build alliances, and inspire action, they seek to: connect leaders and allies focused on protecting sacred and Indigenous homelands; revitalize Indigenous knowledge; and address climate change and racial injustice.
