PROJECTS

One Global Tribe

OneGlobalTribe is an exciting new program that connects young people around the world through meaningful service projects. We provide youth with concrete opportunities to create lasting change on a global scale, and in turn, make a real difference on issues critical to our planet.

By taking part in our annual competition, The OneGlobalTribe Challenge, members are able to collaborate and compete with other like-minded teens in raising awareness and funds for worthy global causes.

Nearly one-third of the world's population is under the age of 18. Yet these two billion citizens are often voiceless, powerless and excluded from the most critical decisions affecting our planet.

Today's youth want to be heard. Growing up in a more connected world, they are more globally aware and more civic-minded than previous generations. They want to be involved and engaged. Many of their schools even require that they volunteer.

.

OneGlobalTribe's aim is to offer youth meaningful service projects that would enable them to impact the world on a global scale, and a way to do so creatively and in collaboration with other teens. To that end, OneGlobalTribe seeks to...

raise awareness of global issues through creative media

  • identify worthy global causes for youth to adopt
  • mobilize youth to raise awareness and funds for global causes
  • provide tools and resources to develop youth into creative social entrepreneurs
  • build and foster a global network of socially active youth
  • create measurable and lasting improvements in the world's environment and human communitieS
We outreach directly into schools where youth, ages 13-18, form OneGlobalTribe chapters and put their talents in the arts, media & technology in service of global causes like: War-Affected Children, Wildlife Conservation and AIDS/HIV through partner organizations like The Jane Goodall Institute and Free the Children.

We are presently developing both curricula and materials to fulfill high school service learning requirements. We offer youth a hands-on, structured ways to make a difference. Our program is compatible with art classes, new media classes, human rights and social studies classes- as well as extracurricular clubs.

The program evolved out of our award-winning PBS television series, called GlobalTribe, produced together with PBS affiliate, KCET. Our background for the last 10 years is in producing "conscious" media projects. Through our parent organization, Creative Visions, we have produced documentaries such as the Emmy-nominated film, "Dying to Tell the Story" and CNN film "Soldiers of Peace", about the children's peace movement in Colombia. Both films were distributed internationally through the United Nations.
