Kat joined Creative Visions Foundation in 2008 as a consultant and artist and most recently holds the title of Senior Creative Producer. She began her career as a documentary photographer and her award-winning photographs were featured in books, magazines, and multiple newspaper outlets around the country. In 2004, while on assignment for a medical outreach foundation in remote areas of Honduras, Kat discovered her passion for community outreach and all things Latin American. Kat has spent many hours working as a creative activist, specifically with youth in the Americas. She mentored aspiring photojournalists and volunteered as an arts instructor, teaching classes to youth in the U.S., Caribbean and Central America. In 2007, Kat worked with the Maya Youth Coalition in Belize, where she developed and instructed a video-editing workshop for indigenous teens as part of a cultural preservation project. In 2008, Kat was part of the Student Emmy-Award winning team that produced the documentary Bismillah: In the Name of Allah, which explores Muslim identity in America. An avid traveler and profound supporter of cultural exchange, Kat continues to explore our world via the arts. She is currently developing a documentary film about indigenous education. Kat holds a MFA in Digital Media Art from the University of Florida, with a graduate certificate in Latin American Studies and a BFA in Photography from East Carolina University. |
