The Rainbow Well

Countless children today face overwhelming circumstances and situations that left untreated can negatively impact their development.

Such situations include natural disasters (i.e. floods, fires, hurricanes), living in terrorist or war zones, maltreatment (i.e. neglect, abuse), poverty, accidental deaths and homelessness. It is estimated that over 60% of all children have experienced a trauma in their young lives.

Faces of traumatized children span all colors, places, sizes and languages. Trauma does not discriminate. Trauma in children has reached epidemic proportions with the APA (American Psychological Association) creating an entirely new field of study and focus on this vulnerable population.

Maureen Healy, the Founder of The Rainbow Well, has created a specialized line of books designed to lift the negative effects of trauma from these children. These illustrated children’s books utilize a directed play therapy tool for children ages 2 to 5 years old. Angel Pup is the first in this forthcoming series teaching children emotional regulation and utilizing directed play to improve overall health.

Specifically, Maureen’s own childhood was full of overwhelming experiences and events that provide her with personal insight into the life of a traumatized child. Combined with her experience as a child therapist and creative arts teacher – Maureen has uniquely designed an integrated solution helping a child through utilizing directed art and play therapy. She now delights in helping traumatized children around the world heal from traumatic events and situations.
