2007 HIGHLIGHTS
CVF
hired President, Jacquelyn Mayfield and Executive Vice President,
Carrie Maloney and nonprofit strategic consultant, Nadia
Roumani, to provide greater structure, leadership and long
term strategies for the foundation.
CVF developed and launched Creative Visions Productions with
Jacoba Atlas, Former Sr. VP of programming at PBS, as President
and Amy Eldon Turteltaub as Executive Vice President.
CVF
created a Board of Directors of 15 outstanding individuals
with a wide range of expertise to assist in expanding the
organization’s
capabilities.
CVF
opened a permanent collection of Dan Eldon’s art
and photography at the Candela Decker Gallery in New York City.
CVF expanded the Creative Activist program from 18 to 36 projects
stretching from the US to Africa to South America.
CVF
secured more than $900,000 to optimize operations of Creative
Activist projects, which was three times more than the amount
secured in 2006. CVF creative
activists are distinct in that they use their creative skills
to identify a problem, strive to find solutions and inspire
others to take action.
CVF
developed a Speaker Series, including panels, seminars, screenings
and workshops that highlight the work of leading creative
activists. It was launched
with a screening of the film, Abduction, followed by a discussion
led by co-directors, Patty Kim and Chris Sheridan, at the
historic Avon Theater in Stamford, Connecticut.
CVF co-sponsored an exhibit with the New Hudson Foundation
at the Paley Center for Media in New York City, Documenting
a Changing Afghanistan: Photographs of Kabul from Andrew Xenios,
which runs from October 2007-May 2008.
CVF
received media coverage on BBC World, Reuters,“O” Magazine
and Bea Magazine.
CVF
launched a channel on You Tube: CVFORG, that focuses on all
aspects of CVF from Dan Eldon’s
life, art and photography to projects and interviews with
Kathy Eldon.
Kathy
Eldon was featured along with Nobel Peace Price winner, Dr.
Wangari Mathai, on MSN.com’s
feature,10 Amazing Women
You’ve Never Heard Of.
Kathy Eldon spoke
to a crowd of over 7,000 at an event to raise attention to
the refugee crisis in Africa that was organized by graduates
of CVF’s Creative Activist program, “Invisible
Children”, in Los Angeles.
