Students at Claremont McKenna college, Chris Temple and Zach Ingrasci chose an unusual path to learn about and address global poverty.
In 2010, they left the comforts of their school and headed south to Guatemala to live on a dollar a day themselves. They did this for two reasons – to gain a deeper understanding of what the extreme poor go through and to make a documentary film that would engage other American youth. Their project became a hit on YouTube. Their first video from Guatemala was viewed more than 400,000 times. Chris, Zach and their team are now cutting together a half hour documentary that will be used to launch a campaign to support effective solutions to extreme poverty.
